Joyful Sounds Music Studio was founded in 2007 by Michele Venegas. Nestled in the unique Blackport Building in the Easthills business district of Grand Rapids, Michele grew the program to include a team of dedicated and talented teachers, bringing the joy of music to hundreds of Grand Rapids area families each year. In 2022, Joyful Sounds expanded to a new location at Integrity Dance Arts in Byron Center.

In June 2023, Michele said farewell and passed on ownership of Joyful Sounds to Melia and Justin Colwell, who are excited to carry on the legacy of music making.
